What is Aneurysm?
Aneurysm is a small out pouching from artery of brain. This ballooning or out pouching is a weak point and prone for rupture.
What are the symptoms of Aneurysm rupture?
Patient usually have severe headache of life. If bleeding is severe patient can have seizure, paralysis and unconsciousness.
What to do in this situation?
Immediately visit hospital emergency .
How it is diagnosed?
Immediately a plain CT scan is done. In case of rupture aneurysm there is a special pattern of bleeding in brain on CT scan which is know as Sub Arachnoid Hemorrhage. Further it is confirmed by CT Angiography or Brain Angiography.
What if it is not ruptured?
Patient can be completely asymptomatic. It is usually diagnosed if brain imaging is done for some other reason.
What are the Treatment options?
Brain aneurysm is usually treated by Clipping or Coiling.
What will happen if it will not be treated?
It can rebleed again and it can be life threatening situation.
How early it should be treated?
Maximum chance of rupture are within 24 hour or even within 6 hour. So It should be treated as early as possible.
